Boorman made his Hollywood directing debut in 1967 with ‘Point Blank’. Starring Lee Marvin as a gangster obsessed with getting revenge on the Organization that once wronged him, the film was seen as an elegant exploration of the increasing depersonalisation of life in the modern urban world. It also went on to become recognized as one of the definitive Hollywood films of the late '60s, occupying a place in the groundbreaking Hollywood New Wave next to such classics as Bonnie and Clyde.

Champion Tadgh O’Coilean
An evening to acknowledge a champion film maker who was taken from us too soon. Tadgh produced the ‘Sé mo Laoch’ series and ‘Caípíní’ as well as ‘Other Voices’. Tonight we screen a selection of his films along with ‘An Dúil’ which has gone on to screen at the Los Angeles Short Film Festival and the New York Film Festival. There will also be wine and song.
A special thanks to Tadgh’s family, Joan Lyne, Chips Chiperfield,
Philip King and Cathal Walters.

Damien Dempsey
Having enjoyed a big hit with ‘Rolling Down to Dublin Town’ in the mid 90’s, Damien Dempsey has built a steady and fiercely loyal following through his live performances. ‘Other Voices - Songs From A Room’ brings this powerful Dublin voice to a new television audience as Damien Dempsey sings his stories of love, despair and hope. Tadgh enjoyed his music.

Planxty Reformed
Through interviews with band members Christy Moore, Donal Lunny, Andy Irvine and Liam O’Flynn, fans from the seventies and the new generation of fans hearing the band live for the first time, this documentary brings to life the atmosphere of anticipation and excitement generated by the reunion gigs in the Glór theatre, Ennis, Co.Clare and Vicar St. in Dublin. It also reveals the deep mutual respect in which audience and band hold each other. As Christy Moore puts it ‘It’s the beauty of the work that unites us all’. Centre stage of course is the music, played by master musicians performing at the peak of their powers.
