BEST DIRECTOR: JOHN BOORMAN
One of Britain’s most acclaimed directors, John Boorman is known for making films resplendent with great visual flair and taut narrative. Boorman is also known as one of the commercial mainstream’s most independently minded directors. His list of classic films include Point Blank, Deliverance, Excalibur, Hope and Glory to mention but a few. His most recent work Country of my Skull is based around The Truth and Reconciliation Hearings and was filmed on location in South Africa.

IRISH: NED DOWD
Ned’s most recent work was as the Executive Producer on blockbuster King Arthur for Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer; biopic Veronica Guerin; the sci-fi epic Reign of Fire; and the award winning Wonderboys with Michael Douglas. He was the co-producer of the critical and commercial hit Shanghai Noon with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. For Caravan Pictures he was head of production on a number of major titles including Rocket Man; Washington Square; GI Jane; Gone Fishin; Grosse Point Blank; Powder and While you were Sleeping. He worked as an assistant director on a number of titles including; I’ll do Anything; Dead Ringers; Hoffa; Other Peoples Money; House of Games; and Fool for Love.

IRISH: DERRY O’BRIEN
Derry O’Brien is managing director of Network Ireland Television, Ireland’s foremost independent television and film distribution company. He has 20 years experience in international services in the music, television and film sectors. Derry was responsible for the inauguration of the Ireland on Screen joint marketing initiative between LEDU (Local Enterprise Development Unit, Belfast) and ABT (The Irish Trade Board). He was a board member of the E.U. programme Euro Aim and was also a member of the Northern Ireland Film Commission.

ANIMATION: SEAMUS DUGGAN
Seamus has worked in Filmbase for the past seven years, first as Supervisor of the Writer/Director Scheme and as manager for the last four years. Previously he had worked in the Lighthouse, the IFI and the Dublin Film Festival as well as in documentary productions with Liam Wylie. He is involved in commissioning up to twelve short films every year with Filmbase and currently programmes the Shortscreen short film slot for RTE.

INTERNATIONAL: BRENDAN McCAUL
VICE PRESIDENT/GENERAL MANAGER - BUENA VISTA INTERNATIONAL
Brendan joined Walt Disney Productions as General Manager in 1977. In 1987 he joined 20th century Fox as General Manager and released the first film to cross the 2m box-office barrier in 1991 - The Commitments. In 1993 Brendan joined the newly formed Buena Vista International as General Manager, which in 2003 became the No. 1 distributor in Ireland for the first time propelled by the success of Irish films ‘Veronica Guerin’ and ‘Intermission’.

DOCUMENTARY: SÉ MERRY DOYLE
Sé Merry Doyle started his career in the Project Theatre working alongside Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne and Jim Sheridan. His first major film work James Gandon - A Life became a huge critical success. Sé was executive producer on the BBC/RTE commissioned Hidden Treasures series. He has also produced the award-winning Imprint and Writer’s in Profile for RTE. Sé and his company Loopline have produced many other awardwinning films and his latest work is a film on the poet PatrickKavanagh.

EXPERIMENTAL: AILEEN CORKERY
Aileen Corkery is the visual arts curator of the artist film and video programme, Temple Bar Outdoors:outside visual arts. She devised the programme in 1997 and it includes short and feature length films as well as newly commissioned work from both emerging and established Irish and international artists. She is currently preparing for a new film commission with Rosalind Nashashibi, the young Glasgow - based artist who won the Beck’s Futures in 2003.
