DEATH IN THE WEST Ireland 2007 27min DVD Colour

Death in the West is an exploration of the peculiarly social nature of the funeral in Irish culture. Tomais MacEllistrom is a Kerry bachelor who attends an old acquaintance, Tom Collins´ wake, where music and spirits override the mourning and grief. Are we studying the death of Tom Collins, the inevitable death of a lonely Tomais or the death of tradition, music, culture and the Irish phenomenon that is the wake?
