Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis / Welcome to the Sticks (literally, Welcome to the Land of the Ch’tis), is a comedy about French regional stereotypes that is well on it’s way to becoming the most successful film ever screened in France. More successful, even, than Titanic!
Directed and co-written (with Alexandre Charlot and Franck Magnier) by two-time César nominee Dany Boon, Welcome to the Sticks, follows a southerner (Kad Merad) who, on orders from his company, moves to the Nord Pas de Calais region bordering Belgium. He’s not happy at first, but once he’s able to communicate with the locals — who speak an impossible-to-understand French dialect — he discovers that they’re a kind-hearted bunch, after all.
A wonderfully comic, gem of a movie, Welcome to the Sticks, promises to be a treat of a screening.
Director Dany Boon
The film will be preceded by a short-film from North Kerry Native, PJ Dillon
