Kerry Film Festival Announces its Adjudication Panel

The Samhlaiocht Kerry Film Festival, which is celebrating eight years of bringing film to the people of Kerry, today announced the adjudicators for the Kerry Film Festival 2007, which runs from October 27th to November 3rd.

The adjudicators that will judge this year's Kerry Film Festival short film competitions are:
Gabriel Byrne - Best Director
David Flynn - Best Irish Narrative Short
Trevor Groth - Best International Narrative Short
Eric Simonson - Best Documentary Short
Max Le Cain - Best Animated Short

"The Kerry Film Festival is delighted to announce its line up of adjudicators," said Jason O' Mahony, Artistic Director, Kerry Film Festival. "From Gabriel Byrne, a wonderful actor and an Oscar Nominated Producer, to Eric Simonson, an Oscar Winning Director, every member of the adjudication panel is among the most highly qualified professional working in their respective fields today."

"This will be the eighth year of the Kerry Film Festival and both the quantity and quality of the films has been rising every year," continued O' Mahony, "so we're delighted that the quality of adjudicators has kept pace with the growing importance of the festival. We've fantastically thankful to all our adjudicators for agreeing to judge the short films."

The adjudicators have an unenviable task in selecting the best film in each of the categories. Over three hundred films were submitted to Kerry Film Festival this year almost double the number of films submitted in previous years.

"With such beautiful scenery, wonderful people, and a hunger for great film. What more could you ask for from a film festival?" asked Oscar Winning Director, Eric Simonson. "I'm honored to be a part of the Kerry Film Festival and look forward to seeing some fantastic documentary shorts."

The prizes are well worth winning with a top cash prize of 5,000 euro which will be presented to the Best Director as chosen by Gabriel Byrne.
